🔹 1. Jesus Is the One True Mediator of Salvation
Yes — the Bible clearly says:
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
(1 Timothy 2:5)
The Catholic Church fully agrees: only Jesus Christ is the sole Mediator of Redemption — He alone died for our sins, and no one can replace that role.
🔹 2. But Intercessory Prayer Is Also Biblical
Jesus as the one true Mediator does not cancel out the idea of intercession.
Paul urges: “I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions… be made for all people.”
(1 Timothy 2:1)
➡️ If we can ask our fellow Christians on earth to pray for us, why not ask the Blessed Mother, who is fully alive in heaven and in union with Christ?
🔹 3. Mary’s Role: Not as Savior, but as Intercessor
Mary never replaces Christ. She leads us to Him, not away from Him.
At the wedding at Cana (John 2:1–11), Mary interceded:
“They have no wine.”
Then she told the servants: “Do whatever He tells you.”
— This is Mary’s eternal message.
Her role is maternal and prayerful, never divine. The Church teaches she is “Mediatrix” only in the sense of interceding, never in competition with Jesus.
🔹 4. Church Teaching: Clear and Balanced
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 970):
“Mary’s function as mother of men in no way obscures or diminishes the unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power.”
Mary’s role points to Christ, supports His mission, and is completely dependent on His grace.
